Papa Dios, April 7th, 2025

Buenas! Como estan todos?? Hows everyone doing?

It was a pretty great weekend with General Conference! I love hearing the words of living prophets, apostles and those called of God. Each message was prepared in the spirit of fasting and praying, to help each of us come closer to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

This week we spent a lot of time out in the countryside, knocking farm houses and houses that spiral up winding roads on hills. Lots of these places haven't been visited by missionaries in a long time, so we had some success.

We met some people who were baptized recently that finally had time to meet us! One of them being Isaias. He told us his story of coming to God. That he has been fighting so hard to come unto Him that giveth hope. One of the things that has helped him his is 5 year old son. His son is always wanting to converse with "Papa Dios" to tell Him about his day, to ask for strength and happiness. Isaias will often walk into his sons room finding him praying to "Papa Dios." It was very tender to hear him tell us this.

We had an interesting night the other night with a man. The friend of a member in our ward. This ward member invited us to her house to help out her friend. His situation is that he's been a devote Christian most of his life. He has been studying the Bible for 35-40 years. He's seen the hand of God in many places in his life. Two years ago his mother got very sick. And he went to apply what he had learned in the Bible, from 1 Corinthians, about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Of the gift of healing. He tried his best to heal her, praying, blessing her, talking to her, everything he could think of. But then she died. He then lost all his faith in God, doesn't believe he exists anymore. The member of our ward wanted us to help him. During the conversation, I bore testimony with the Holy Ghost, and I felt in my heart that his heart is closed and like unto a rock. He then started to Bible bash us after he said he was open to listen to us. He will need more time to heal. These situations sadden me the most because you love the person so much, and you know how to help them. But they close their hearts and plug their ears and shut their eyes. Pray for Carlos please.

Spiritual thought: "The sacred scriptures and living prophets are a major way a loving Heavenly Father makes His plan of happiness available to all His children." - Elder Quientin L. Cook (October 2024).

What a perfect time we have to study the words of the living prophets after the general conference. Look for the Plan of Happiness that our loving Heavenly Father has made available to all of us! We are His children! Follow the words of the prophets to learn how to access His plan. And follow Him humbly and meekly.

Question of the week: How can you apply the things you've learned in general conference?

With much love, Elder Spencer
