Joy, March 3rd, 2025

It was my last week in Vivaceta and we spent it saying goodbye and making sure our friends we were teaching were ready to receive new missionaries. I got transferred along with my comp to the other Elders area in my district and those Elders got transferred to mine. We did a little switch-a-roo. Anyways during my time saying goodbye, I felt a lot of joy. With Anette and Geraldin, two sisters that I baptized, they shared their testimonies with me, the showed me through their actions that they love God. That brought me so much joy as I saw two friends of mine grow a relationship with God. The first time I met them was on Halloween, they were all dressed up trick or treating, they were rambunctious, didn't really want to listen while we taught. I have seen them progress so much, gain testimonies, feel God's love, get baptized, receive the Holy Ghost and so much more! I'm grateful to have known them.

Last week there was a blackout in all of Chile. Lost light and connection. There was a curfew at 10pm with police cars patrolling to make sure no one was around. It wad a bit unsettling to sit on the 19th story balcony and see a completely dark city with green and red lights winding around the dark maze. (The police lights colours are green and red down here I'm Chile). But the night sky was beautiful, you could see a lot more stars with less light pollution!

Spiritual thought: D&C 18:15

"15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!"

I am grateful for the opportunity I have to labour day in and day out to cry repentance unto the people of Santiago Chile. I've talked to so many people I can't count, and out of all those people only a few have heeded the voice of God. But out of those few, I have felt overwhelming feelings of joy. In all of your little efforts to help your neighbor come unto God, you can also feel immense joy!

Challenge if the week: share a scripture or your testimony to someone about the love of God and how it can bless them in their lives!

Love you all!! Elder Spencer
