Hello! How's it going everybody!
Last week we had transfers and it was kind of anticlimactic! We waited all Wednesday night for them to come and they never did. Then thursday morning we found out that all but one elder was staying in the zone. And sadly that one elder was my brother Elder Carlson, he's doing well in his new area! Some of my favourite times with him were: drinking mint tea and ppj (he mostly had hot honey water haha), we went on some awesome exchanges together with minimal Spanish, had great morning workouts, would hit up some study/talk/chill nights with honey water. Anyways, I'm going to miss him! See you around Elderš£
The new elder that came in is fresh as can be. Straight from training in Mexico. He's from the states, his name is Elder Quist. I'm still getting to know him, but it seems like he is a cool guy! I see him experiencing the same things I went through when I first arrived and I'm now realizing how utterly clueless I was at first haha.
We had a couple miracles with people: Beryet, Silvia, Andres y Catalina.
I'll start with Beryet. So we have been trying to get in contact with her for a while, and finally on Friday we did. We knocked at her door and her little 6 year old daughter opened the upstairs window and we had a fun little talk with her. Played some red light green light game haha. And then her mom, beryet, came out and we talked with her and set something up for the next day. Now just to tell you a little about her, she is raising three children as a single mom after a not so pretty divorce, working full time, and running a household, and more I'm sure I don't know about. So the next morning we text to confirm the appointment, and she kinda blows up at us over text about how busy she is with everything and how much stress she's dealing with. My heart immediately went out to her. My comp took it differently and got mad that she got mad, but I was able to calm him down. Then it looked like she blocked our number. So we finished up our planning for the day and afterwards we said a prayer. And I prayed for her. And immediately after she texted us saying sorry and that we would see her at church the next day.
Miracle with Silvia. Something we do as missionaries is ask members what people they know who need a message of peace or light in their life. So we show up to Silvias house for a noche de hogar and she is just so excited. We ask what's going on and she tells us her neighbour asked her why she hasn't invited them to church yet. She was kind of startled at first, but then talked with them! And now they want to meet us, so we will meet them this Thursday or something! I'm excited!
Andres y Catalina! They are a couple we found at an old members house. They newly moved in and don't have a lot of friends in the area. So we got to know them a bit, have seen them walking around a lot. And after a lesson with them we were talking about things we like. And Andres mentioned he was into calesthenics! I immediately got excited as this has been something that I've gotten into as of 2 ½ months ago. He's been going for about 6 months. So now we will be working out a couple mornings a week with him and get to know him better!
Something I'm also excited about is we are starting english classes on Tuesdays! We've had so many people, members, friends, and more ask us to do this! So I will put on my teacher hat and go for it! How hard will it be to teach a bunch of old Chileans English? (I take that back).
Spiritual thought: last night the first presidency of the church had a Christmas devotional that we watched! A couple messages stood out to me that go hand in hand from different speakers. One was: remember. Remember God and all that he's done for you. The second was: try to more fully sense and understand the gifts Christ has given you. And thirdly: let friendship, love and deep anchoring in Christ take over your Christmas. I know that as you do these things, it will make the Christmas season so so much more enjoyable and hold more peace and love. You will be more connected to God, Christ and those around you!
Question of the week: how can you implement these three things in your Christmas season?
Love you all! If you have any questions, I'm here! Tenga una buena semana, si o si!
