Hola!
This was a busy week! Lots of things happened with meetings🤝, Christmas parties🎄, dogs🐕, buses🚌, and our friends😄.
First things first. We were in a lesson with a family and after the lesson they brought out little puppies. There were three brown ones and two black ones. Just flopping around and playing. I was permitted to hold one and it made my day. It's little body holding so much heat, giving that joy and heat to me. After they took the puppies away the heat stayed. I looked down and the dog had peed all over my lap. And then I noticed the stench and I was really affected by it because it is one of the smells that is consistent here in Santiago. Anyways we dashed home and I changed and the end.
We had a couple experiences with busses. One was this morning. We were waiting at the stop for the bus of B29. Get there at 7:20 ready to leave. And we wait. And wait. And wait some more. Until it's 7:50. Our zone leaders call us and ask where we are. We tell them that we are waiting for the B29. They tell us they are waiting for it as well and that theyd call us when it comes. (They are a couple stops before us). 5 min later they text us that it came. Then they told us the bus wasn't moving because there was a fight between the driver and a passenger, crazy! Anyways the bus finally came at 8:05. The other bus story, we were coming home from a stake Christmas party and a bus pulled up that we could take, it looked very crowded but I felt prompted to get on. So I shoved myself into the jam packed bus, slightly regretting my choice. But soon the bus driver started talking to me. He wanted two things: 1. a Libro de Mormón and 2. to get in contact with the missionaries in his area to be able to go to church! It was super cool! Luckily I was able to help him with both things! We chatted the entire way home, he is a very cool guy.
This Sunday was the primary presentation! Where all the little kids all bore their powerful testimonies and sang beautiful songs. Since I was up on the stand anyways playing the piano, they had me press play for the music to play on a speaker. Lamentablemente we had some technical issues, which was a little embarrassing because my mission president decided to come to our meeting. That was a fun shock as well as it was a surprise drop in haha.
On Saturday morning we got to workout with Andres y Catalina at a calesthenics park! That was a lot of fun! And then Sunday evening we had an amazing lesson with them outside in a plaza. It was incredible. We taught the restoration and gave them each a book of mormon. And we asked if they could read the introduction. Then Catalina shocked us and asked us if it was alright if she could read more and as much as she could, we got so excited about that. Then she hit us again by saying that the next time we meet we should all bring a scripture we liked and share it and a little thought! That was so incredible! Her faith is beautiful. She even introduces herself as Catalina, from Chile, who is spiritual and loves learning things from God. Then she told us she had seen some anti against our church, and she told us she didn't believe in that. Why? Because it is so easy to say those hateful doubtful things. But it is much harder to follow God and be a devote disciple. So she doesn't believe anti because she sees it as the easy way out.
Today we had a mission wide christmas p-day. It was ok, personally I don't really like those big group events very much. We started with photos, mom I have some individual ones that they took of me to send to you. Then we had a devotional with musical numbers, ranging from singing to violin to piano to flute and even to a memorable recorder duet! Then there were some talks! After we had lunch or before... doesn't matter. Then we had a secret Santa gift exchange. We got gifts beforehand then drew names afterwards. I had bought a toque and a Christmas ornament! And I received mixberry jelly and some candies! After that there was a talent show the talents ranging from singing to piano to violen to dancing to magic to a skit to guitar etc. It was pretty fun! There were some real talent out there! My comp sang as well, that was super cool! After the talent show we had free time to do qualquier cosas like volleyball, fútbol, football, frisbee, basketball, eat pizza etc. I played some frisbee with me friend Elder McCombs that I met all the way back in Mexico ccm. And then thay was the end of it!
Spiritual thought: D&C 76:41 "That he came into the world, even Jesus, to be crucified for the world, and to bear the sins of the world, and to sanctify the world, and to cleanse it from all unrighteousness." I love this passage of scripture as it talks about Jesus Christ and His coming into the earth. And that is what we are celebrating at this time during Christmas. I think it is important not only to celebrate His birth but to remember why He came. He came to die for us and live again. Conquering not only physical death but also spiritual death. Opening the way and making it possible to return to our loving Heavenly Father.
Question of the week: what is a Christmas tradition you enjoy doing with your family or friends?
For me I really enjoyed doing brother gift exchange with my brothers. Trying to figure out who has who, trying to slyly figure out what they want, seeing the excitement on their faces as they open it up, wrapping it in fun ways, etc.
Love you all!! I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!!
