Feliz Navidad!! December 25, 2023

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope everyone is having a very merry Christmas full of family, food, gifts, trees, lights, traditions, and a focus on our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

This week I had an interview with my mission president which was super awesome! Then I had a ward Christmas party! It was my first time meeting a Latino Santa! And listened to some Christmas music which was in a minor key, that felt a little off settling haha!

Here in Chile maybe Latin America as well, no sé, they celebrate Christmas on the 24th and open gifts at 12am! It's pretty cool! And then the 25th is like a hangover day where they don't do anything because they are all drunk... so last night we had a big dinner with our zone leaders, the other missionaries in our house and some members! It was a lot of fun! We had turkey, rice, coke, bread, salad, potatoes with mayo, and yes, tomatoes! Then today for Christmas we got together with 10 other missionaries and had a huge water fight, played some cards, played volleyball, player fútbol and had some good food! It was very fun! After that I went and participated in a secret Santa with some of my friends! I drew the mom of my friend, she's this old chilean lady so I was very distraught in what to get her haha! 5 minutes before I still didn't have something! So I ran into the nearest almezen and bought a little yellow stuffed teddy bear, which I think was actually a dog, and a fake rose that looked real. So we pull up and eat some bread and cheese, and do the gift exchange! I got a new wallet from my friend Catalina! And then it was my turn to give away my well thought out gift. I gave her the gift and before she opened it she looked at me and told me how she was going to love it and she knew how much thought I put into it and how grateful she was for me and kept calling me her "hijo". Mean while I was sitting there trying not to think about the fact that I had just bought it 5 minutes before with not a clue of what to get her. Anyways she opened it up and she saw the little teddy bear dog and she smiled so big and exclaimed that she loved it and that yellow was her favourite colour asking how I knew that, lucky guess I said in my mind haha. So it went better then I thought! Then we walked home and my companions bag got robbed. So that was my Christmas!

Spiritual thought: Alma 7:11-13

"11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me."

I love these verses as it describes Jesus Christ's role on the earth and all that He did for us. I love the part that says he will take upon everything to know how to help us (I'm paraphrasing), it shows that Christ knows exactly what we are going through, and that He wants and knows how to help us!
